Changing the shape of your nose surgically is called rhinoplasty. Finding the right plastic surgeon to give you the look you want is the most important step. Dr Alex Phoon is an expert in facial plastic surgery and rhinoplasty. Achieving the perfect nasal shape to compliment the rest of your face is key here and one size certainly does not fit all. The most common change our patients will request will be a smaller nose or one that has less of a hump. In our clinic we often like to say that confidence is beautiful- you might primarily want a functional recovery or to have a perfect nose to compliment the rest of your face– in this case you can expect to have both!
Dr Alex Phoon uses the Vectra XT system which is the latest and most advanced way to perform simulations to determine what a rhinoplasty could look like for you. Naturally, the simulation machine doesn’t perform the surgery but it is the very best way for us to define exactly what kind of goals you have. Dr Phoon will take you through the process so we’ll know exactly what you want. You can see what this new shape will look like and make sure it looks in harmony with the rest of your face.
The below options are variations on the Rhinoplasty procedure.
The difference between a closed and open rhinoplasty is a small, almost imperceptible cut on the underside of your nose called the columellar. An open rhinoplasty has this small cut and small incisions around the inside of the nostrils. The most common way of performing this procedure is with an open rhinoplasty as it gives unparalleled access to the structure of your nose- namely the cartilage and the bone.
There are many different Nose Shapes including: Dorsal Hump. Long Nose, Tension Tip, Over Protected Tip, Bulbous Tip, Under Projected Tip. Which type do you have?
Noses come in every different conceivable shape and size. When patients request a smaller nose they are commonly referring to a thickness or prominence to the centre of their nose called a ‘hump’ or an enlarged tip of their nose than can appear full or boxy in shape. Removing the excess hump of the nose is a two-part process during surgery.
